Although it can be found in other Croatian sub regions, it is the dominant grape variety in Istria. It is part of the standard wine selection with all wine producers. Its origin is unknown, although it is considered indigenous to Istria.
Due to the application of modern technology this variety has
started to reveal a large part of its undoubtedly high quality
potential. The wines most commonly have characteristic yellow-green
to golden hay colour, green reflection and a discreet aroma of
acacia flowers. Its taste is fresh and harmonious, yet still
"Mediterranean", and noticeably full-bodied and strong.
